Geneva is a great town to work and live in. One of the wonderful events that the Geneva Chamber of Commerce puts on is the Geneva Arts Fair. The 2013 Geneva Arts Fair marks the 12th year Geneva has held a fine arts festival. This year the arts fair will start on Saturday July 27 and ends on Sunday July 28.
The Geneva arts fair is not an all inclusive event, there is a definite selection process artists must go through before they can show their art. The artists must have applied to attend the event by February 1 and then are subject to review. The result of this process is an art fair of high quality work. The artists show their art in tents lined up along Third Street starting at James and ending at South Street, I believe. For the weekend of the art fair do not expect to be able to drive right down to the train station from State Street. The art gets judged and winners are awarded ribbons which they typically display on their tent.
We attended the art fair in 2011 and thought it was an excellent event. The quality of the artwork was spectacular. The art fair is well organized and its location on Third Street, while a bit inconvenient if your trying to get around Geneva, is actually perfect. Third Street has some shade from that July sun so it makes being out in the July heat more tolerable. We went early in the morning after getting breakfast in Geneva and we left well before midday. If you are planning on attending I would suggest going there that way. Get in and out before the heat and the crowds. The estimated attendance for the event is around 20,000 for the weekend.
The 2013 Geneva Arts Fair starts at 10am and ends at 5PM both days of the weekend. As far as I can tell there is no entertainment scheduled for this event and the last time we went, there were no outdoor food or drink vendors that I can recall. We will probably make it out there one morning over the weekend for the arts fair so maybe we will see you there.
