The BStrong4Life System

docs

BStrong4Life® is a muscular-skeletal strengthening and rehabilitation system appropriate for all ages and conditioning levels. A proprietary protocol combining three different non-invasive technologies – bioDensity™Power Plate, and ReAct – the BStrong4Life® System is designed to improve your bone density, muscle strength, balance, coordination, and stability regardless of your age or conditioning level.

BStrong4Life®™ has developed protocols that enable this system to be used for increased bone density, injury, sports and surgery rehabilitation, fitness, and balance. When supervised by a medical professional, the BStrong4Life®™ System has positively affected osteoporosis/osteopenia, Parkinson’s disease, degenerative discs, Multiple Sclerosis and various other conditions or injuries.

How bioDensity™ Works

The bioDensity™ System represents a scientific breakthrough in physical conditioning. Increased muscle power, postural control, and a positive effect on bone density are just some of the benefits of bioDensity™. In the spring of 2015 the developers of bioDensity™ presented  a study to the World Congress on Osteoporosis, Osteoarthritis, and Musculoskeletal Diseases showing 14 patients who had an average 7% increase in bone density in a 1 year time of use.

bioDensity™ is a biomechanically efficient system that improves strength and bone mineral density (BMD) through maximum intensity, short duration neuro-musculoskeletal stimulation (NMS). The system consists of four simple yet comprehensive isometric exercises. The user creates a maximum isometric load.

This differs from traditional exercise that affects primarily the sarcoplasm. This system targets primarily myofibril (muscle “cables” within the sarcoplasm) development and safe articulo-skeletal loading. The equipment precisely measures, tabulates and records user force output 30 times a  second via patented load cell/software interface throughout each session. All physical efforts are recorded, compared and contrasted over time. Each user receives a Performance Report at the conclusion of each training session.

Power Plate Whole Body Vibration

The human body has natural reflexes such as the eye-lid reflex, the touch reflex and the stretch reflex. The stretch reflex is what occurs when a doctor taps your knee with a hammer, this causes a reflex that extends the leg.

Power Plate induces a continuous special stretch reflex called the Tonic Vibration Reflex in all involved muscles. The special vibrating platform causes minute stretches within the muscles, which activate Tonic Vibration Reflexes. Because Power Plate platforms vibrate between 30 to 50 times per second, these involuntary muscle contractions happen at the same speed.

Not only do your muscles contract and relax at very high speed, but also the amount of muscle fibers in every single muscle involved exceeds the amount of muscle tissue utilized in regular training.

For most people who perform conventional strength training, a maximum of 40% of the muscle fibers per muscle are recruited at any one time. Power Plate recruits between 95-97% of the muscle fibers. This also means that the deeper postural and stabilizing muscles that are typically hard to contract and train can be stimulated.

Power Plate changes the frequency of contraction instead of the force applied to the muscle. This produces much less strain on the joints, ligaments and muscles without long exhausting sessions. Most patients feel immediate results. It is safe for almost all patient conditions when applied correctly.

Eccentric Training

There are three types of muscular contraction: concentric, isometric and eccentric.  Most people are familiar with concentric (muscle shortening under tension) and isometric (muscle tension without any change in length). Eccentric contractions happen when the muscle lengthens under tension.  They occur whenever you are absorbing force and decelerating such as:

  • Landing from a jump or in the landing phase of walking/running
  • Walking down stairs
  • Changing direction while running

Our muscles literally act as springs during eccentric contractions. During most movement eccentric contractions allow us to store kinetic energy, which is then used during concentric contractions – this process is always happening in our bodies and is known as the Stretch Shortening Cycle or SSC. Up to 50% of all the energy needed to accelerate/lift the body can be reclaimed from the eccentric/muscle-lengthening phase of the stride! Eccentric training increases a muscle’s ability to produce force at a longer length. This is one of the ways eccentric training prevents injury.

The BStrong4Life® System incorporates eccentric, anaerobic core training by utilizing the reACT™ functional eccentric trainer
